A big day out ,

Yesterday was very busy, no time to update the blog. We went to explore IronBridge. IronBridge has the worlds first Iron Bridge. It is a world heritage listing, very beautiful, on the river Severn. The Iron Bridge was the worlds first Iron Bridge, it crosses the river Severn and was opened in 1781. Lucky us, the sun was shining,  and colours quite spectacular. We visited  the nearby Coalport Porcelain Museum, on the site where the beautiful porcelain was produced - the old kilns are still there.

We left Iron Bridge and drove to Church Stretton a very picturesque historic market town in the Shropshire Hills. After lunch we drove up and over Long Mynd which rises to the west above Church  Stretton . A wonderful place for hiking and walking, with beautiful views. We stopped at the  "top" for a photo opportunity, but unable to climb or walk too far as we didn't have our walking shoes (bad planning ). The area is renowned for  it's geology and boasts some of the oldest rock formations in existence. There were a lot sheep on the hillsides, a very peaceful and healing place.

We drove home along winding lanes through  small villages but time finally forced us on to the main road and into the homeward bound traffic around Telford.
A quick look at our photos for the day, then out to dinner with David's cousin Linda. We went to a tapas restaurant in Newport. Quite  a change from the pub meals but very yummy !

Today we move to the Shooting Folly at Cheswardine, our retreat for the next 6 nights. Let's hope the warm weather continues. I don't think we will have wifi there, so this may be the last blog post for the next few days.
