Shrewsbury - birth place of Charles Darwin

Charles Darwin was born and educated in the Medieval town of Shrewsbury. The town centre is packed with black and white buildings, steep narrow streets and alleyways. A day does not really allow enough time to explore this popular market town.  We had a great time wandering the lanes and exploring the shops, we stopped for a coffee at  the Libertine  Cocktail Bar and Tea  room with its quirky wallpaper and china cups. We stopped for G&Ts, before deciding to lunch at  French restaurant Bistro Jacques. We enjoyed " L'Asiette de France" a platter of French Favourites and a glass of red wine. Early afternoon we headed back to Newport , picked up David's dad  and went to visit a family friend. Another busy day. It's early to bed after an excellent dinner at The Swan at Forton. Alarm set for 6am as we have our canal trip tomorrow.
